Bowel Prep
The following instructions are made to help you prepare your bowel for your procedure. Do not take Aspirin, Alka-Seltzer, Plavix, Vitamin E oil, Fish oil, or NSAIDS( example: Motrin, Ibuprofen, Advil, Celebrex, Naproxen) for 10 days prior to your procedure!!
- It is necessary to have a clear liquid diet. You should start clear liquids on the day preceding your procedure. Please drink any of the following in any amounts that you wish (example: apple juice, Gatorade, water, clear chicken or beef broth-no noodles! 7-up, sprite, ginger-ale, tea, and jello). No milk or milk products, no coffee creamer either, as well as nothing with red food coloring or red dyes.
- Please take the following as directed: 10:00 AM-take 4 tablets Dulcolax; 2:00 PM-drink 1 bottle of Magnesium Citrate; 7:00 PM-drink additional bottle of Magnesium Citrate. All can be bought over the counter.
- After midnight, you should NOT have anything to eat or drink. You should be fasting until your procedure is completed and the doctor gives you the OK to begin eating again.
- 1-2 hours before coming to the hospital for your procedure, use 1 adult fleet enema.
