Othon Wiltz, M.D., F.A.C.S., F.A.S.C.R.S.
Dr. Othon Wiltz attended Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons (New York, NY), was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, and received his Medical Degree in 1985. He completed his residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (Boston, MA). He also did a two-year, NIH-sponsored research fellowship in cancer biology at the DanaFarber Cancer Institute (Boston, MA). Dr. Wiltz then underwent additional Fellowship training in Colon and Rectal Surgery at the University of Minnesota (Minneapolis, MN).
Dr. Wiltz was in private practice in Miami and Puerto Rico for 13 years from 1993-2006. In August 2006, he was recruited to establish the colorectal surgery program at Virginia Hospital Center (Arlington, VA), where he is head of Washington Colorectal Surgery at Virginia Hospital Center and has set the standard for excellence in the surgical and nonsurgical treatment of disorders of the colon, rectum and anus.
A Fellow of both the American Society of Colon & Rectal Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Wiltz is one of only approximately 1,300 Board-certified colorectal surgeons in the United States. He is a former clinical instructor in surgery at Harvard Medical School, is widely published and a frequent lecturer. Dr. Wiltz has a particular interest in constipation, fecal incontinence, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease and colon and rectal cancer.
